Ahama is a laidback Turquoise Coast retreat, set between secluded sandy bays and fragrant forests near Göcek’s yachting utopia, and is part of the Relais & Châteaux collection.
The yoga and spa areas of Ahama Hotel in Göcek were designed and built by Toros and Partners. The project was developed through a holistic approach where architecture, interior design and landscape are considered together within a unified bohemian luxury wellness concept.
The yoga space draws inspiration from the principles of inner balance, awareness and mental clarity found in yoga practice. The structure was conceived as an open architectural system that establishes a strong relationship with the surrounding landscape and natural topography. A timber truss structure, reminiscent of bamboo construction, defines the space while creating a light and natural architectural presence. The ends of the structural elements incorporate the Ahama logo, establishing a subtle connection between architecture and brand identity.
Within the yoga area, a small library space was introduced to allow visitors to spend time, read and extend the experience beyond physical practice.
Programs such as Sunrise Yoga, Tai Chi, and Ancient Ritual Ceremonies form an important experiential layer of the space. These practices emphasize slow movement, awareness and connection with nature, shaping the spatial atmosphere of the environment.
The spa area is organized around a dome form, intended to create an immersive and protective spatial atmosphere. At the center of the dome, a steam room forms the core of the spa experience.
The project was constructed on a sloped terrain and completed within a short timeframe despite challenging site conditions.
Through the relationship between architecture, interior design and landscape, the project aims to create a calm wellness and longevity environment connected with nature.
