The Yokocho project is a collaboration between Toros and Partners, MSA, and AKFEN, designed to bring the essence of Asian street culture to one of Istanbul’s most vibrant districts. More than just a restaurant, Yokocho immerses guests in the lively energy of Asian streets, offering a multi-sensory experience that blends tradition with contemporary design.
The exterior features bold red and blue tones, accented by black and red furniture, creating an inviting and energetic atmosphere. Vibrant ceramic surfaces echo the dynamic pulse of Asian streets, while the distinctive Yokocho logo—designed with varying fonts—draws the street culture directly into the space.
Inside, the design blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern elements. Inspired by Japanese tōrō lanterns, red lighting behind doorways enhances the warm ambiance, reinforcing the connection to Japanese culture. Industrial touches, wooden textures, and Asian-inspired posters further enrich the immersive experience. Seating arrangements encourage social interaction, while a music selection box and interactive elements amplify the street food concept.
A balance of tradition and technology is achieved through digital screens integrated into the bar, adding a modern layer to the experience. The use of bonsai trees and natural elements softens the industrial aesthetic, bringing an organic touch to the urban street vibe.
Yokocho is not just a place to dine; it’s a cultural journey, where guests can savor the flavors of Asia while feeling as if they are wandering through its bustling streets.
